Member Services and Promotion
The leadership of VAFCS will provide opportunities for professional development of its members. VAFCS, its officers and members, will actively promote membership in the organization to individuals who had been members previously, to new members previously, to new professionals, and to preprofessionals and graduate students.

VAFCS will use a variety of means by which it can serve its members including the quarterly newsletter, and the development of a VAFCS web site with linkages to AAFCS, IFHE, related (allied) organizations, and numerous organizations and resources.

Public Policy
VAFCS members will be challenged to take advantage of opportunities to become involved in shaping public policy in Virginia at local, state, and national levels that will affect families and communities. VAFCS will work with other professional organizations on public policy issues of common interest and concern.

Programming Through Partnerships and Alliances
VAFCS members will make a commitment to share their professional knowledge not only with the many publics which they serve, but also by serving as speakers for other groups/organizations with related interests.

VAFCS will expand opportunities for international involvement by members including contributions to the twinning project with Dominica and involvement in programming of IFHE-US.

VAFCS will become involved in collaborative efforts with other states and organizations, such as with the Maryland affiliate to receive training concerning the AAFCS Early Childhood Initiative, the Folic Acid Council, the VA Citizens Consumer Council, and the ADA National Nutrition Month educational efforts.
